Steal Our Ideas

Check out Steal Our Ideas. They come up with the ideas, so you can spend your time in martini lunches, and hey, the ideas are pretty good, too.

Design Thinking

Tim Brown, the CEO of IDEO, has an entire blog dedicated to design thinking, an idea to which I have been giving some thought recently. According to Tim, “Design thinking can be described as a discipline that uses the designer’s sensibility and methods to match people’s needs with what is technologically feasible and what a viable business strategy can convert into customer value and market opportunity.” This is similar to a FAST COMPANY article, that says, “The methodology commonly referred to as design thinking is a proven and repeatable problem-solving protocol that any business or profession can employ to achieve extraordinary results.”

Typographic Posters

Don’t be fooled by the witty URL. Typographic Posters delivers two thing, posters and typography. A great repository of all things poster, this web site is instant inspiration. Link courtesy of Raymond Forbes.

MAXIME DELPORTE

Maxime Delporte is a graphic designer from Brussels, who produces some absolutely astounding pieces.

Munday Munday

The beautiful work of Oliver Munday.

Honey & Bloom

It’s a cold, rainy and frightful day in Atlanta, but the work of Honey & Bloom is a ray of hope. Direct from SF, Becky Hui Chan produces some astoundingly simple and beautiful pieces, which bring a smile to the face. If design had a spring, you’d find it at Honey & Bloom.

Font Fabric

Finally, a font shop that offers those wicked geometric fonts that all the kids have been talking about. And no, you should not resist the urge to download QUAD and Cube, which are free. Font Fabric is definitely worth a type-related bookmark.

IDEO Method Cards

I stumbled across the IDEO Method Cards in a San Francisco store. I think that they might be difficult to find, these days. However, they seem like a treasure trove of design thinking goodness. I love the way they connect experimentation back to IDEO’s customers. It isn’t simply about experimentation for the sake of creativity; it’s about experimentation that puts you in your customer’s shoes. Check out IDEO online for more. I also like their new web site.

PLAYFUL

Some great work from PLAYFUL designer Pablo Alfieri.

Image Spark

Could it be? Is it possible? An alternative to FFFFOUND! Image Spark is like FFFFOUND, but it has features that you might actually expect on a web site. Will it garner the same cult following? Doubtful, but it definitely illustrates the power and peril of launching unrealized ideas online.
